Five things to see/do in Salamanca: Take a stroll around Salamanca’s 18th century central square – the Plaza Mayor, considered by many to be the most beautiful in Spain. Don’t miss the exquisite Baroque City Hall on the north side of the plaza.
Both the Old Cathedral (Catedral Vieja) and the New Cathedral (Catedral Nueva – with its beautiful sculptures and interior) are worth a visit.
Art buffs should not miss the Casa Lis (Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Deco), with its extensive collection of works in the above-mentioned genres.
Check out the University of Salamanca, founded in the early 13th century. The main building’s impressive 15th century facade contains a carved frog, and finding it is supposed to bring good luck on exams.
