Five things to see/do in Paris:
Take the elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, and marvel at the views of the city below.
Check out the Louvre Museum’s extensive collection of fine art and sculpture, as well as exhibits (such as Napoleon’s living quarters). Due to the size and historical significance of the museum, make sure you devote at least a full day to this.
The Notre Dame Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture whose construction was started all the way back in the 12th century. Apart from checking out the exterior and interior, you can climb the narrow winding stairs all the way to the top.
Walk down the famous Champs-Elysees boulevard all the way to the Arc de Triomphe. The world-famous arch was constructed in Napoleon’s time to symbolize (and inspire) French victory. The view from the top is quite nice, especially at night when the “city of lights” really lives up to its name.
To get a good feel of the city’s atmosphere, walk around the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank (Rive Gauche) of the river Seine. Apart from the ever-present cultural activities due to the proximity of the Sorbonne university, the area is a popular going-out destination, and has a great variety of cafes, bars, clubs, and restaurants.
