Five things to see/do in Olomouc:
Check out the Gothic/Baroque St. Wenceslas Cathedral (Katedrala Sv.Vaclava), the region’s tallest and most important church.
The Holy Trinity Column, located on one of Olomouc’s main squares, is an impressive structure and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Town Hall building (Radnice) has an interesting astronomical clock. Destroyed many times in the 500 years since its construction, (the last time being during WWII), its latest reconstruction gave it a strong socialist-realist feel.
The neo-Baroque Chapel of St. John Sarkander has an interesting display of a preserved medieval torture chamber.
Make sure to visit Bouzov castle, located in the village of Bouzov, not far from Olomouc. The idyllic castle has been used in many movies, and is one of the area’s main attractions.
